Sustainability
We attempt wherever we can to provide a sustainable environment at Ducati’s.
Ducati’s is located among tall trees, decorative, herb, and food producing gardens.
We also have free range chickens that have around 2000 sq. metres to roam around in.
The trees and gardens provide a home to many native species of birds and other fauna. No pesticides or herbicides are used in the maintenance of the gardens.
As well as the domestic animals, namely Ducati the Cat, and Dinozo the Jack Russell. You may see Kookaburras, Magpies. Butcher Birds, Black and Sulphur Crested Cockatoos, Blue Wrens, Willy Wagtails, Noisy Miners, Grey Crowned Babblers, and many other bird species in and around the trees and gardens.
Possums, both Ring Tail and Brush Tailed inhabit the property and surrounding area along with the occasional native Bush Rat, a family of Lace Monitors, Diamond Python, Grey Kangaroos and Wallabies. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen a Koala yet however the local wildlife rescue group harvests the trees on the front footpath to provide food for injured Koalas in their care.
Our food sourcing philosophy is one of Paddock to Plate. What we don’t grow ourselves we source from local growers and producers including our Beef, Sheep, and Pork products, purchased on the hoof, and butchered to our cut list.
All hot water is solar heated. A large proportion of the electricity is solar generated, and battery backed up. All our lighting on the property is LED.
All wastewater is processed on site and used to water the gardens. Water on site is a combination of tank and town water depending on its use.
